Market Outlook: Favourable inflation data overshadowed by central bank tightening

Last week ended with large share price declines and rising government bond yields, even though American consumer price index (CPI) inflation for November had come in lower than expected earlier in the week. What put the stock market on edge was the subsequent announcements of tighter central bank policies − especially Thursday’s hawkish rhetoric from the European Central Bank (ECB).
