The inspection was part of the ordinary supervision of financial institutions' measures against money laundering and terrorist financing. The inspection resulted in certain findings, which subsequently led to remarks and orders of correction. The findings included issues that the branch had already identified through internal control activities and review of measures against financial crime. As a result, the work necessary to improve respective conditions were already initiated. The Financial Supervisory Authority has been informed about the developments made. Based on the explanations and submitted documentation, the overall assessment of the Financial Supervisory Authority is that there is no basis for making a decision on further reactions, but that the branch must continue its work in this area.
“We have taken the comments and orders from the Norwegian Financial Supervisory Authority seriously. Therefore, work on corrective measures have been given high priority. We are pleased that the Norwegian Financial Supervisory Authority acknowledge the measures implemented. We have a clear objective, low risk tolerance and a clear strategy in our work against financial crime and therefore we will continue our work with further strengthening our measures within this area going forward", says Johan Persson, Country Manager for SEB in Norway.
